The Hillcrest Apartments is a 60‑unit affordable rental housing project. It was the largest new construction affordable project in Thousand Oaks in almost 30 years. The Italian villa style project includes five separate residential buildings consisting of 32 one‑bedroom units, 10 two‑bedroom units and 18 three‑bedroom units in both flat and townhouse configurations as well as a stand alone community center.
The project serves very low income families, formerly homeless individuals and families and people with permanent disabilities. The development employs the latest Enterprise “Green Communities” standards. The project includes a semi subterranean parking structure with a grass roof forresident activities, picnic areas, a community garden, pedestrian walking paths and a playground.
