Pico Robertson Senior Community is designed to provide a healthy and social environment for seniors including a variety of spaces that foster different levels of privacy and community interaction. A large courtyard at the third floor acts as a central gathering space and is surrounded by a community room, supportive services offices and an exercise room. Smaller terraces throughout the project offer quieter seating nooks and “pausing” spaces. Community garden planters and informal seating are featured at the roof deck.
An exterior stair at the center of the project adds a colorful accent and encourages residents to use the stairs by making the experience easy, visible and fun. Open corridors take advantage of natural ventilation and light, while recessed entry doors in alcoves provide a sense of identity for each unit.
