Silver Star is a fitting name for this new 49‑unit development designed to meet the needs of homeless veterans. The three‑story development located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles includes a large community room, offices for staff, garden, computer lab, laundry facilities, and on‑site parking. The project received LEED Platinum Certification and Net Zero Energy. Key features include a greywater system with estimated savings of nearly half a million gallons of water per year and a rooftop solar photovoltaic system, both of which reduce the operating cost of the building.
